A Message from Our Founder & Executive Director
Welcome to the inaugural edition of HHF Connect.
It gives me great pleasure to introduce this new platform as we continue strengthening communication, collaboration, and engagement across Humanity & Health Foundation. But before I talk about where we’re going, I want to take a moment to remember where this all began.
When I founded Humanity & Health Foundation in 2015, I did so with a simple but stubborn belief: that the people closest to a community’s challenges are often best positioned to help solve them if they have the knowledge, confidence, and support to act. That belief hasn’t changed. If anything, every year since has only confirmed it.
What We’ve Built Together
Over the past several months alone, I have had the privilege of witnessing remarkable growth not only within our organization, but within the individuals who make up our global volunteer community. From onboarding new volunteers and expanding our Learning Center, to the successful delivery of our Mental Health Awareness Campaign, each milestone reflects the collective commitment of people who believe in creating healthier, more informed, and more resilient communities.
At HHF, meaningful change begins with informed people. Our mission has always extended beyond delivering programs and services; we are equally committed to educating, empowering, and equipping individuals to become leaders within their own communities.
That philosophy inspired the launch of the HHF Community Change Agent Initiative, which encourages volunteers to identify local challenges, conduct research, and develop educational content that promotes awareness and positive action. It has been genuinely moving to watch our volunteers embrace this opportunity with such enthusiasm and thoughtful contribution; some of their work now lives right here on HHF Connect.
Why This Platform Exists
HHF Connect exists because knowledge, on its own, isn’t enough. It has to reach people in a form they can actually use, written with respect for their intelligence, their time, and their lived experience.
This platform was created to celebrate what our community has built, recognize the incredible work of our volunteers, share organizational updates, highlight learning opportunities, and strengthen the connections that unite our growing international team. It belongs not just to me, but to every contributor who has trusted us with their expertise, every volunteer who has shared their story, and every reader who takes something from these pages back into their own community.
With Gratitude
None of this exists because of one person. HHF was shaped from its earliest, uncertain days to what it has become by people who believed in this mission before there was much evidence to point to beyond conviction.
I want to thank every volunteer, staff member, partner, and early supporter who has helped carry this vision forward, often quietly and without recognition. You are the reason HHF is more than an idea.
I want to offer a special word of gratitude to our Board Chairman, Mr. Kenny Shadracks, and to every member of our Board of Directors. Your governance, wisdom, and steady belief in this mission give HHF the foundation it needs to grow responsibly and serve with integrity. Thank you for holding us accountable to the highest standard, and for never losing sight of why this work matters.
A Challenge, As Much As a Thank You
Every volunteer, every article, every training completed, every community conversation, and every act of service contributes to something much larger than ourselves. Together, we are building not only stronger communities, but stronger leaders committed to creating lasting, sustainable impact.
So as we launch this platform, my invitation to you is simple: don’t just read HHF Connect; contribute to it. Bring your questions, your expertise, your community’s stories. The next milestone we celebrate here should include something you helped build.
